About the role...
Oversees the daily operation of all slides, pools, attractions,
playscapes, etc. within the LEGOLAND Florida Resort Water Park
(including Park Water Park, Hotel Pool, and Beach Retreat Pool),
establishing and maintaining procedural, safety, and guest service
standards. Has responsibility for leadership and supervision,
development, engagement, performance management, etc. of all Water
Park Team leaders, Lead Lifeguards, Lifeguards, and Guest
Experience Hosts - Water Park, ensuring daily operation, staffing,
safety and guest service targets are met. Oversees and facilitates
maintenance to ensure pool safety, and construction quality
specifications are met.
What you'll be doing...
Oversees LEGOLAND Florida's Water Park (i.e. Park Water Park, Hotel
Pool, and Beach Retreat Pool) attractions, slides, pools,
playscapes, changing areas, admissions, area cleanliness, etc.,
providing leadership and supervision across all locations.
Ensures effective and efficient daily operation, exceptional guest
services, safety, and cleanliness standards.
Works closely with the Admissions Team to ensure that
admissions/turnstiles are properly staffed.
Contributes knowledge of attractions, quality installation, slide
safety and guest service to ensure smooth operation of attractions,
slides, pools, playscapes, etc.
Ensures that all safety and park cleanliness requirements are met
and that all regulations, policies, and procedures are
enforced.
Reviews infrastructure, mechanical and other operational system
requirements in accordance with plans and specifications. Evaluates
and tests slides, attractions, pools, etc. Develops and implements
standard operating procedures to exceed safety standards.
Inspects the Water Park areas and facilities to detect existing or
potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or
preventive measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure
measures have been implemented. Documents and communicates findings
and results; proposes corrective actions as the situation
requires.
Develops detailed operational and safety procedures. Maintains
files and records of maintenance documentation, and related product
support materials.
Ensures product knowledge is retained/updated by the team and
self.
Ensures that the team are aware of sales opportunities within the
resort.
Ensures the team/self understands the resort's objectives and what
part they can play to ensure success.
Ensures the LEGOLAND Florida Resort Water Park areas and capacity
are managed in accordance with local, state, and federal
regulations.
Assists management with scheduling to include lifeguard and in
service training.
Ensures operational expenditures are controlled within budget or
target.
Search for and promote ideas from the team to help manage costs
effectively.
Identify and coach future leaders in the department.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending
workshops and reviewing professional publications.
Maintains knowledge on current changes in local, state, and federal
standards regarding safety & health issues, pool cleanliness, and
drain covers protocols.
Develops and leads a professional, efficient, and effective Lead
Lifeguard, Lifeguard, and Guest Experience Hosts - Water Park team
with a focus on quality of service, the delivery and development of
the guest experience, and safety. Act as a role model in leading
this through The Merlin Way.
Responsible for the hiring, training (in accordance with the
Starguard standards and Water Park regulations), development,
performance management, team building and other culture and people
management activities.
Ensures in service training is adhered to and followed at both
LEGOLAND Florida Resort and Peppa Pig Theme Park. Ensures the
lifeguards receive their required number of audits.
Maintains all training records of all managers, leads and
lifeguards in accordance with Starguard standards.
Responsible for creating, updating local SOPS and addendums, to
include their distribution.
Ensures adherence to policies and procedures, effectively managing
and documenting employee relations.
Responsible for instilling a safety culture in the team keeping
guest safety of utmost importance.
Functions as a stakeholder in terms of climate survey results
within the department and implements an action plan to improve year
over year.
People:
Supervisors and employees will have consistent communication and
meetings with this role (i.e. schedules, payroll, and training).
Promote and demonstrate LEGO's and Merlin's culture and core values
through words and actions. Ensure adherence to policies and
procedures, effectively managing and documenting employee
relations.
Who we're looking for...
Requires at least four years of progressive experience in managing
pools, slides, and lifeguards in a theme park or related industry.
Demonstrated leadership experience and effective verbal and written
communication skills required. This position requires a
demonstrated track record of success in operating and maintaining
pools, attractions, and slides. Requires mechanical aptitude and
ability to ensure plans, specifications, safety and quality
standards are met. Strong guest service, interpersonal and
supervisory skills are required. Experience in ensuring guest
safety through procedures, programs and instilling a safety culture
is critical. Knowledge of budgeting and scheduling are required.
Exhibits both the ability to work as a team member as well as the
ability to work independently and execute projects within job
scope. Exhibits patience, flexibility, and the ability to work
effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Must be willing to obtain Starguard Lifeguard Instructor (LGI)
Certification or above, have a current Starguard Lifeguard, First
Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and certifications,
be AED Trained.
Education:
High school graduate or General Education Degree (or equivalent
education and experience) is required.
Physical Demands:
Intermittent, prolonged standing and walking to move about the
Resort site, interact with employees, and interact with Resort
guests.
Finger dexterity sufficient to complete paperwork activities and to
use a computer.
Visual acuity sufficient to read written materials, to complete
paperwork activities, to drive, and to respond to critical
incidents.
Hearing sufficient to communicate with individuals in person and by
telephone, and to respond to critical incidents.
Physical ability to act swiftly in emergency situations.
Work Environment:
Various inside and outside locations with varying temperatures and
floor surfaces.
Includes working outdoors in > 95-degree heat, high humidity,
rain & other inclement weather.
Exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
Other Job Requirements:
Performs other duties as assigned.
Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings &
weekends to support Resort operations.
Must have a valid driver's license, safe driving record, and be
willing to utilize own vehicle for business purposes.
Must have or be able to get a valid passport and relevant travel
visas. Requires travel domestically and internationally.
Ability to address requests for medical care in a rapid manner and
perform strenuous physical activities for prolonged periods of time
under intense and fast paced conditions.
Attendance is a mandatory function of this job.
Salary: $40,000/annually with benefits.
