Department: -Parks & FacilitiesReports to: -Capital Project ManagerPay Grade/Salary Range: -PG-106 $33,402.11 - $50,103.17 ($16.06 - $24.09 hourly)Posting Expires:Until FilledGeneral Description:This is a skilled supervisory position responsible for the direction and oversight of staff that perform custodial duties of various County buildings and facilities. The individual filling this position should be assertive and enjoy working both indoors and outdoors.Essential Job Functions:The following statements describe the principal functions of the job and its scope of responsibility but should not be considered an all-inclusive list of work requirements. - Individuals may perform other duties as assigned.

Supervises, schedules, and coordinates the work functions of custodians involved in general housekeeping duties such as: cleaning offices, restrooms, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, and other similar duties. - Performs custodial work as required.Coordinates, schedules, monitors and supervises team maintenance activity of employees.Coordinates, schedules, and monitors contract workers in facilities performing duties related to custodial care.Responsible for orientation and continued training of all Custodians.Prepares and submits requisitions for supplies and equipment.Supervises the work functions of custodial staff. Verifies time and attendance reports, completes employee evaluation reports, disciplinary actions, and other administrative documentation.Maintains a professional and safe unit and work area adhering to established safety policies and the image desired for the organization.Follows consistently the Board policies and procedures.Responds productively to change and performs all other related tasks as directed.Manages warehouse operations.Proactively identifies future needs, issues, and concerns.Frequently inspects buildings to identify maintenance or safety issues.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of materials, methods and techniques required to properly maintain buildings and facilities in a clean, healthy, and sanitary manner.Knowledge of the equipment used by the custodial staff.Knowledge of equipment capabilities and maintenance requirements.Knowledge of purchase requisition procedures.Skill in the proper methods of custodial service, and maintenance of buildings and other facilities.Ability to plan and supervise the work of others.Ability to understand, follow and communicate oral and written instructions.Ability to report time and attendance information and complete employee evaluations.Ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, managers, directors, Elected Officials, vendors, and the general public.Physical Skills:Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 25% of the time. Frequently operates various types of office and janitorial equipment to include, but not limited to computers, mops, and brooms. Must be able to frequently position self to work under or around various items to perform custodial tasks. Constantly inspects and assesses equipment, buildings, and materials to complete daily tasks. Frequently ascends/descends stairs, ladders, and scaffolding. Frequently moves materials and office equipment weighing up to 40 lbs. Frequently communicates with the public, vendors, and co-workers. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. May be required to work in inclement outdoor weather conditions for up to (4) four hours. Frequently operates motor vehicle for up to four (4) hours.Education & Experience:Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and a minimum of three (3) years of custodial experience with at least one and half (1.5) years in a supervisory position.Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.Other job related requirements:Disaster Essential.Working hours: (A) Daily from to (B) Total hours in workweek 40 hours (C) (split shift, rotation, etc.) This position sometimes works on weekends. -THE HIGHLANDS COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
