Business Consultant, BAR, Pharmacy Support - Lakeland

Job Description:


  • Serve as a financial point of contact, consulting and providing financial-based recommendations for Pharmacy operations, managing and ensuring consistent support in both strategic and regularly recurring decision-making processes
  • Serve as an organizational thought leader and proactively advocate for viewpoints associated with the Pharmacy operations area, while supporting and reinforcing recommendations and standards brought forth from across the Business Analysis function
  • Provide comprehensive analytical consulting to support the Pharmacy business function, in addition to generally providing financial-based recommendations to support strategic decision needs for the Pharmacy Retail Business Unit (RBU) and across the enterprise (as assigned) that require financial input
  • Consult and provide financial-based analyses to support tactical and RBU project needs that require financial input
  • Manage analysis & reporting and ad-hoc requests to ensure RBU is properly informed on decisions
  • Develop or enhance and support corporate financial and strategic planning, forecasting, and reporting processes
  • Review the work product of other team members

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or another analytical discipline
  • 4 years relevant business experience
  • Ability to develop financial analysis based recommendations
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to critique and question assumptions and beliefs
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various levels of Publix associates, including effective listening skills
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Ability to quickly develop an understanding of new information, processes, and technologies
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative by taking responsibility for learning new skills and processes
  • Knowledge of Accounting and/ or Finance (solid knowledge of accounting principles and exceptional math skills)
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques, including how to quickly identify and correct logical flaws and improve the overall accuracy of the analysis
  • Knowledge of statistics and quantitative methods
  • Ability to prepare, summarize and present fact-based information to various levels of the organization (from clerks to executives) through excellent presentation and proficient facilitation skills
  • Ability to facilitate training to various levels of associates
  • Demonstrated use of advanced analytical skills (including math & statistics), problem solving skills, creative thinking, financial modeling, and forecasting skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and to effectively prioritize workload by assessing needs and prioritizing tasks. Must be able to work independently with some up-front guidance, under minimal supervision and be self-directed with workload
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Basic knowledge of Microstrategy Developer or similar data visualization tool
  • Willingness to supervise one or more indirect reports
  • Must be a self-starter requiring little to no direction in day to day activities
  • Willingness to be flexible and adapt quickly and efficiently to change

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Accounting or MBA with concentration in Accounting or Finance
  • 5 years relevant business experience
  • Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant or other certifications specific to the position
  • Superior communications skills
  • Strong ability to persuade others using logical debate
  • Knowledge of other Business Units, including their basic roles and responsibilities
  • Deep knowledge of assigned business functions, including their strategic long-term business needs and operational decision processes
  • Knowledge of the RBU, their results and how they influence other departments and overall corporate results
  • Knowledge of the retail store environment and operations
  • Leadership skills
  • Project management skills
  • Advanced knowledge of:
  • Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Publix systems/data sources (SAP, EDW, Host, PIMs, Marwood, FINDSS, DB2, Store Acctg, Enterprise and PcTM (Pharmacy), Oasis, EDW Supplemental data, Nielsen, etc.) and the interrelationships of those systems
