Lead Software Engineer- Backend

Our client is a well-established, privately held, company that is transforming itself into a leading-edge technology company seeking to disrupt the automotive aftermarket e-commerce space.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Backend Software Engineer Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of Backend Software Engineers in the development, testing and deployment of backend services and will work closely with the Principal Architect, Dir, Backend Technology, and fellow team leads to deliver components of our cutting-edge propriety e-commerce platform.
CORE FUNCTIONS
Manages and regularly supervises a team of Software Engineers; provides input on the hiring, promotional recommendations, or work assignments; evaluate performance and manages employee relations.
Prepares and communicates annual performance appraisals as directed by company policy
Responsible for developing team objectives, goals and priorities and professional development of team
Work with backend team to develop and implement server-side solutions
Decompose complex needs to discrete development tasks and distribute tasks among developers leveraging their strengths
Work with systems processing large amounts of data required to support operations.
Write clean, maintainable code to ease further development
Perform code reviews and mentor direct reports
Research and recommend ways to improve and modernize existing systems

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
BS, Software Engineering
8+ years of experience working with Node or other backend languages
A demonstrated history of motivating and empowering team members to achieve a higher level of performance
The ability to effectively communicate complex technical issues to a non-technical audience and engage in productive dialog involving multiple viewpoints or conflicting perspectives
Experience working with distributed and hybrid teams
Experience troubleshooting and optimizing existing code
Strong understanding of modern software practices including automated testing, and CI/CD
Strong understanding of public cloud PaaS (Heroku, DigitalOcean, or AWS)
Nice to Have:
Experience working in a TDD environment
Experience working with an enterprise ERP system, especially NetSuite
Experience building with IaaS systems like AWS or GCP
Experience with functions as a service system like AWS Lambda or Azure Functions
Experience with event-driven architecture and asynchronous programming
