CENTRAL FLORIDA HEALTH CARE, INC.POSITION DESCRIPTIONTitle: Administrative Medical Assistant,Recommended by: Health Center Administrator Approved by: Chief Operations OfficerReports to: Health Center AdministratorPOSITION SUMMARY: The Administrative Medical Assistant (MA, CMA, RMA) is responsible for providing direct and indirect patient care in the clinic under the direction and supervision of the Health Center Administrator. The MA is expected to work well with every member of the Front desk team in order to ensure optimal outcomes for patients health. This position requires strong team work and communication skills.MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:High School graduate or GEDGraduate of a Medical Assistant Program from an accredited schoolBLS CertificationExperience preferredComputer literacyRESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS: may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Be familiar with CFHCs program philosophies, goals and objectives. Be cognizant of and comply with all CFHCs policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
    • Be competent in performing the duties of a medical assistant.
      • Understand the requirements of CFHCs Exposure Control Plan. Personally utilize universal precautions when practicing in a clinical setting.
        • Participate in staff outreach and off-site health care programs as requested by the Health Center Administrator, COM or CEO. Represent CFHC in the community.
          • Report as needed to Health Center Administrator any pertinent information or situations that impact on patient care or CFHC liability.
            • Attend and participate in mandatory CFHC meetings (Center Specific meetings, Corporate meetings, and other meetings as designated by the COO or CEO).
              • Demonstrate ability to work cooperatively with other members of the patient care team. Be supportive of coworkers.
                • Maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times.
                  • Carry out any other activities deemed appropriate by the health center administrator, COO or CEO.RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS include, but are not limited to:
                    • Acknowledge/greet patients and process patients in accordance with CFHCs patient flow model.
                      • Knowledge of Athena processes, IDCOP, Sliding Fee Scale, HIPAA, Joint Commission, Medical Record policy, scheduling, patient rights and grievance processes.
                        • Create new patient account. Retrieve established patient accounts from Athena.
                          • Gather pertinent data on all patients: demographics, financial, educational and occupational (migrant/seasonal, other).
                            • Knowledge of verification of insurance coverage, run/check Eligibility obtains authorizations as needed. ( Medipass or HMOs)
                              • Collect appropriate money for visit per sliding fee scale and Co-Payments
                                • Review accuracy and completeness of claim at end of visit. Data entry, diagnosis codes, and money collected.
                                  • Schedule new and follow-up appointments as needed.
                                    • Maintain cash drawers. Complete end of day Daily Summary Sheet and balance activities for the day run the reports (Billing Summary, Individual users and all users report)
                                      • All AMAs will be cross-trained in all areas of medical and dental services.
                                        • Follow all protocols associated with CFHC being a patient centered medical home .i.e. Web enabling patients into the patient portal and identifying which patients are having a transition in their care.
                                          • Complete reports as requested by management.
                                            • Other duties as assigned.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
                                              • Requires 80% or more time spent sitting/standing/walking.
                                                • Independently mobile.
                                                  • Ability to lift weight equivalents that would be required with occasionally assisting and positioning patients, repositioning equipment, and lifting supplies.
